Please include your phone model, whether it is the iPhone or Android app, the app version (iPhone: Settings in the app; Android: your phone's app info) and what you tapped before the problem. A screenshot helps. Please do not send copies of your documents.
Expiry says my records can't be opened (iPhone)
Do not delete the app. Deleting it removes the only copy of your records file. On Today, or on the screen that says a scan could not be kept, tap What can I do? Expiry offers to restore a safety copy that opens, or to start a new set of records. Either way, the file that won't open is kept beside the new one, never deleted. If neither option helps, email us before doing anything else.
A reminder didn't arrive (iPhone)
- Check that notifications are allowed for Expiry in your iPhone's Settings, and that a Focus is not silencing it.
- Expiry's quiet hours are on by default, from 22:00 to 07:00. A reminder due in that window arrives when it ends. You can change this in the app's Settings.
- Only confirmed dates get reminders. A date still waiting in Inbox for your confirmation does not.
- Today always lists what is due, even when notifications are off.
The current Android version does not send notifications: it lists your dates on Today, grouped by when they are due.
A date was read the wrong way
Dates like 03/04/2026 can mean 3 April or 4 March. On iPhone, Expiry reads them the way your iPhone writes dates, which in India is day first, and tells you when it had to choose. Nothing is saved until you confirm it, so you can correct the date before confirming, or edit it later on the item.
Moving to a new phone
- iPhone, with iCloud: Expiry keeps an encrypted copy of your records in your own iCloud (Settings, iCloud, Keep a copy in iCloud). On the new iPhone, sign in to the same Apple Account and open Expiry: it finds the copy and asks before bringing your records back. If iCloud Keychain is off, enter the copy's recovery key, which your old iPhone shows under Settings, iCloud, Show recovery key. Scanned pages and originals are not in the copy.
- iPhone, without iCloud: in the app's Settings, choose Create encrypted backup and keep the recovery key it shows somewhere safe, such as a password manager. On the new iPhone, choose Restore from backup and enter the key. Expiry shows what the backup holds before anything is saved. Without the recovery key, the backup cannot be opened by you or by us.
- Android: choose Export a readable copy in Settings. This copy is not encrypted, and it cannot be restored into the app; keep it somewhere private.
Deleting your data
- On your phone: deleting Expiry from your phone removes its records from that phone. Inside the app you can dismiss Inbox entries, mark items done, and delete folders and recurring payments (iPhone); deleting a single item is not available yet.
- Copies you made: exports and backups you saved elsewhere stay where you saved them; delete them there.
- With us: there is no account, so we hold none of your records. If you emailed us and want those messages deleted, write to admin@bighelpers.in with "Privacy request" in the subject.
Read with Expiry AI (iPhone)
This optional feature is off until you turn it on. When you use it, you see the exact text before anything is sent, and every suggestion quotes the line it came from for you to confirm. You can turn it off in the app's Settings at any time. There is a daily limit; if you reach it, try again the next day. What is sent, and to whom, is explained in the Privacy Policy.
